29 April 2013, Monday


Today, it is the day of the Personal Project Exhibition and to be honest it was quite an exciting day. It was a day full of happiness because we were all happy that the Personal Project has come to an end as we worked very hard for this project for many months. Somehow, it was also tiring day especially for me because I had to wait near my booth where no one came to see my project, so it was quite painful because many people wanted to see more interesting ones as I was surrounded by more appealing projects than mine. Basically, no one really saw my project until I approached them or give an attraction show with my solar powered car prototype which was hilarious because some of the comments that I received were comments about the solar powered car prototype only and not the rest of project. So, it was a mixture day of happiness and tiresome but at the end we were all happy.

After talking with a couple of teachers regarding my miniature model of my Lego, I started to make another model from scratch because the teachers think that the model is too small and it doesn't really resemble my design. So, after spending days thinking about it, I decided to make the model from used cardboard box because the material is solid and not too hard, and it saves the environment by using old cardboard box. Subsequently, I had confusion on whether I should use wheels from my toys or make the wheels from cardboard box and I decided to make the wheels because it shows the originality of the product, it is more exciting to make one and again it saves the environment.

1 April 2013, Monday



After having consultations with a couple of teachers, I found out that I need to make a miniature model of the design that will be much likely to be my product. It was quite hard because I had to think a lot of things on how I will make the model this time. This is different because I had to make it from scratch unlike the prototype that I made. At first, I was thinking that I would make this miniature model by using a wood but then I thought that it will take time especially that I will have a limited time as the day of the exhibition is coming near. So, I came up that I will be making the model with the Lego that I have. It took me most of my day because I had to look all over my room to search for my Lego. Also, making the model following the design was hard because my design has curves in it and it is impossible to make the curves as Lego is not curvy. Fortunately, I found a way to get the curve into the miniature model.

Today, I redo the whole video that I made and took three days ago because I found out that in the exhibition itself I won’t be able to talk anything unless someone were to ask me a question. So, I needed to redo the whole video because the video that I had don’t have much information. So, I need to put more information into the video. The reason that I made the whole video over again instead of editing it through a computer is because first thing is that I don’t know how to edit the video with the video format that comes through from the video camera, and the second thing is that I think that it is better for me to start over again as I will be able to put the information clearly and coherently.

Today, I was making a video to explain about the prototype and the project that I am doing by explaining the products. It took me about 2 hours or so to finally complete the video because there was about 4 videos that I did which resulted quite horribly. Also, there was about an hour of it was to think about the things to say, the setting and such. Even though that the things to say are quite obvious, but to actually convey it through a video is extremely difficult because I have to get every detail of the information through and I have to get it through clearly so that people will understand as I will not be able to edit the video later in the day of the exhibition.

Today, I was working on finding the calculations or formula for finding the efficiency of the solar panels and also the speed of a vehicle from the ratio of the power and weight. It was actually quite hard to find because most of the times, the results that I got in the internet aren’t exactly the ones that I am looking for. So it took me quite a while to finally find the results that I need and was looking for. I had to look for lots of websites to make sure that the calculations that I have is trustable and is actually the correct calculations

Today, I was making a prototype or miniature model of a solar powered vehicle. I made the prototype with parts from a toy kit that I just bought today. The prototype is like only the evidence for the disbelievers to show that a solar powered vehicle can actually work. The prototype was actually easy to make, but I actually spent quite a while to analyse the prototype. The prototype is actually quite weak to work because either the solar panel is too small for it to get the energy from the light. So, I need to find a way for it to work in the exhibition for proof that it can work.
